Julia Morash is a junior counselor in our program and is a Junior at New Rochelle High School. She has a love for the water and has been involved with the ocean since she was little. She aspires to be a marine biologist and was instrumental in the development of the STEM program curriculum which was an important element in the City Island YC Junior Sailing Program’s award of the Mary Von Conta Award from JSA Long Island Sound in 2020. She enjoys teaching Optimist and the Hobie One sailboat and especially the STEM program to the youngest of our sailors. In 2019 she competed in the Lady Skipper Race as the youngest skipper in the history of the race. She also is involved with a nonprofit on City Island dedicated to the reintroduction of oysters to our waters. She is a member of the SUNY Maritime College High School program varsity sailing where she sails 420’s and IC24 sailboats.
