Commodore’s Update 8.20.20

There is lot’s coming up!

Fall General Membership Meeting: September 30, 2020, 7:30 pm. Elections of officers and the Board of Directors. Reports on the condition of the club. Location: TBD (We would like to have this in person if possible. Otherwise, it will be by Zoom.)


JAM Race – Sunday, August 23, 4pm No windward–leeward courses and no spinnakers. Also, no poling out jibs or genoas with spinnaker poles or whisker poles. Non-racers and racers are encouraged to bring family members, sailors and non-sailors.

TGIF Sunset Series – Friday, August 28, 7pm Entry is required, no fee. 7:00pm start. Jib and Main only. Short course around the buoys and back to the club for dinner and celebration.

Sayers Series – September 12, Our most popular race! Around the buoys in the morning, around Hart Island in the afternoon. Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the club.


Eat, Drink and be Merry. Use up your minimums!

It is imperative that you sign your chit at the restaurant before you leave. This is your way of making sure your bill is correct. Otherwise, we have no way to correct an inadvertent mistake.

24 Hour Launch Service: Fridays and Saturdays.

Weekday Launch Service: Sunday – Thursday 8am-12am.

Log-In When You Come to CIYC

  • To continue keeping everyone safe, we ask that you log in with your name and a phone number when you come onto the site.
  • The logbook on the West Porch is for the purpose of contact tracing if someone (God forbid) should fall ill. Your compliance will help us contact you should that become necessary.


  • Please wear your mask at all times while on the CIYC site, except when you are eating, drinking or smoking. Children under 2 and those who cannot tolerate a mask due to health conditions are exempt.
  • Stay safe!
